Paul Hertel was born in 1953 in Vienna. Since 1982, he has lived in Vienna and Zürich as a freelance composer. The major points of his work include his work for numerous theatres in German-speaking countries, as well as his work for international film and TV companies. One of his film scores enabled him to become a member of the ‚Freie Akademie der Künste Rhein-Neckar’. Alongside his theatre, film and TV scores, Paul Hertel dedicates himself to ‘free’ composition – his works in the realm of contemporary “E-Musik” are frequently found in concert programs throughout the world, as well as during important international festivals.
