
Dana Cristina Probst was born on 14 September 1961 in Bucharest. She studied piano andmusic theory at « George Enescu » Music College (1968-1980), then composition by AnatolVieru at the University of Music in Bucharest (1980-1984). An ÖAD Scholarship enabled her,from 1993 to 1995, to study ethnomusicology by Franz Födermayer at the University ofVienna and composition by Michaell Jarrell at the University of Music in Vienna.In Romania, she worked as piano teacher (1984-1990), then as assistant professor at theDepartment of Composition, Music Theory and Music Education of the National Universityof Music in Bucharest (1990-1996). Since 1997 she currently lives in Vienna and teachespiano and music theory.The works of Dana Probst have been performed in numerous concert series and festivalsincluding the Romanian Broadcast Concerts (1985-1997), Ploiesti Philharmonic Concerts(1987), the Bucharest International Week of New Music (1990 – 2000), DarmstadtComposersforum (1990), Bayreuth « Zeit für neue Musik » (2001), Austrian BroadcastConcerts (2002), « Pazaislis « Festival – Lituania (2006), « Elektronischer Frühling » Vienna (2002/2007).Between 2000 and 2008 many of Dana Probsts’ compositions were performed in associationwith the ÖGZM, ÖKB and INÖK - Austria.
