Alfred Gradinger a performer, composer and author of Viennese tunes started to play the accordion at the age of 6 and has been working as a professional musician since 1978. Together with Rudi Koschelu (contra guitar), he founded the duo “Weaner Spatz’n” (”The Vienna Sparrows”). At that time they were the youngest professional duo in the Austrian music scene and won 1983 and 1984 several prizes for entertaining music.
Since then the duo is focussing on the old Viennese tunes as well as on ambitious instrumental music.

Alfred Gradinger’s activities range from writing song texts and film scripts to composing in various musical styles.

He plays in several classical “Schrammel music” ensembles (”Vindobona-Schrammeln”, “Berg&Tal-Schrammeln”) and initiated the publishing of several CDs of contemporary folk music. He accompanies singers at live performance as well as in the sound studio, one of his long term musical partners is the famous Austrian actor Karl Merkatz. Concert tours led Alfred Gradinger around the world, he published numerous records and CDs and appeared in radio broadcasts as well as TV productions (”Kaisermühlen-Blues”, “Musikantenstadl”).
